Mandya: If Mandya police have not cracked the crimes reported in the district, its all thanks to the busy election schedule that kept them on their toes.
SP Bhushan G Borase said that the deployment of police for election duty affected investigation into criminal cases in the district. They are yet to crack the bulk of criminal cases filed. He said that in the first three quarters of the year, 71 housebreaking cases were reported, and only eight have been solved so far.
"We were busy with election duty. Now we can concentrate on our primary job," he said.

Borase said that three weeks ago, Mandya district police recovered a tiger skin from four persons. It helped them zero in on an international syndicate involved in trading of tiger bones, claws and skin. "When we interrogated the accused, we got major clues of an international gang involved in trade of tiger parts. Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Chennai, and the forest department are assisting us in cracking this case," Borase revealed.
